Dr. Kathryn Thompson
Kathryn L. Thompson, O.D. is a primary care optometrist providing patients with a wide variety of vision services. She has extensive experience in family eye care, including dry eye management, eye surgery co-management, children’s eye examination, and adult eye care. She provides comprehensive eye care for all ages, including contact lens fittings and low vision rehabilitation, which helps individuals with visual impairments live more productive and independent lives. She is a licensed practitioner in the state of Maryland and joined Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons in 2012.
Dr. Thompson graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then went on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she earned her doctor of optometry degree in 2008, graduating with clinical honors in Low Vision Services and Primary Care.
Dr. Thompson completed her optometry residency at Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA. As a resident, she specialized in hospital-based optometry and ophthalmologic co-management of glaucoma, ocular disease, inflammation, trauma, retinopathy, laser surgery, and cataracts.
